DENMARK: Nyhavn, Castles of Zealand, Hans Christian Andersen

8:44:00 AM

This past summer, Cosmos tour led my family and I around the most jaw-dropping sights around Scandinavia. "In a Day" was a series I started in the summer when I spent a day out in Miami Beach and Coconut Grove. In THIS trip, almost every day was a new cultural journey. We traveled in this awesome air-conditioned coach, and rotated seats every day so we could all get a chance at beautiful views. Bus tours aren't for everyone, so I've chosen to display all the highlights of places to see and things to do, all on your own!

Day 01: Bella Sky Hotel, Nyhavn, Little Mermaid

On the morning we arrived, we took advantage of the hours left we had to sightsee on our own before joining our tour group. City-Sightseeing is a hop-on-hop-off tour bus company that I'm sure has services elsewhere in Europe. With great tour guide audios and free wi-fi on board, this bus really made it easy to learn history and upload those Instagram pics at the same time.

Gefion Fountain (Gefionspringvandet)

Part of the City-Sightseeing package we wanted included a boat ride around Copenhagen's waters, allowing us a much better look at Copenhagen's very own Miami Beach Ocean Drive -- Nyhavn, and the famous Little Mermaid statue.

We spent a night in the famous AC Hotel Bella Sky, an architectural enigma if you ask me. We had a late check-in, so we were able to get accustomed to the city all morning.

That was our whole first day! The rest of the evening was spent sleeping in, getting used to that jetlag.

Day 02: Castles of Zealand and Leisure Day

After having mingled with our tour group the evening before, we were given the chance to choose an optional tour and/or have the rest of the day free to explore on our own before hitting the road to Funen the next day.

Fredensborg Slot in Fredensborg, Denmark
Kronborg Slot in Helsingør, Denmark

Day 03: Funen, Odense & Hans Christian Andersen

Our third day, like every day, was started bright and early. To get to the island of Funen, we traveled through the famous Great Belt Bridge.

Hans Christian Andersen is quite a big deal in Denmark. We have him to thank for over 100+ fairy tale stories that we've come to know and love, especially The Little Mermaid! In Funen, we visited his beautiful hometown, Odense.

After a full afternoon in Odense, we took the Little Belt Waterway to go to Jutland, the peninsula of Denmark.

Whether it's to save up and take a trip of a lifetime or just as a quick guide to get your Europe itinerary started, I truly hope this serves as some form of inspiration for you. Denmark is such a beautiful country and it was such a challenge to choose only a few snapshots to share with you guys!

Be on the lookout for Norway -- the most breathtaking country in the world. Follow me on my journey... and thanks for reading xx

    1. Thank you :) AC Bella Sky Hotel unfortunately wasn't a part of the Cosmos tour, but I still 100% recommend it. A bit on the pricey side, so if you have Marriott Rewards, take full advantage!
